Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Thursday allowed 100 percent crowd attendance for the second India-Sri Lanka Test, which will be a pink ball game and scheduled to be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, in Bengaluru, owing to high demand for tickets in the previous Test.

This latest development comes as a change from the earlier approved 50 percent crowd attendance. According to ESPNCricinfo, the highly increased demand for Test match tickets led the Karnataka State Cricket Association to demand permission from the state government for allowing full capacity attendance.

“KSCA is happy to inform that there has been very good response for viewership of the India vs Sri Lanka Day-Night Test cricket match being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore from 12-16 March 2022.” KSCA treasurer Vinay Mruthyunjaya said in a statement.

“Considering the high volume of response and since there are no further restrictions for spectators, KSCA will be opening up the sale of tickets for the full capacity of the stadium,” the statement added.

Bengaluru was earlier slated to host the first Test which was also Virat Kohli’s 100th match in the longest format. Notably, Bengaluru is hosting a Test for the first time since Afghanistan played their inaugural game in June 2018. The city last hosted an international match in January 2020, when Australia toured for the ODI series.

The second Test between India and Sri Lanka will be the last match of the series, which will be played from March 12 to 16. This is India’s third day-night pink-ball Test at home, following matches in Kolkata against Bangladesh (November 2019) and in Ahmedabad against England (February 2021). India won both those pink-ball Tests.
