Johannesburg : India defeated South Africa by 135 runs at Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, in 4th & final T20I, thereby, clinching the series 3-1. Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma’s tons helped India achieve the feat.
Batting 1st , India started to display their aggressive brand of Cricket against South Africa with 73 runs opening partnership. However, they lost Abhishek Sharma (36) in the 2nd last ball of powerplay.
It then was showstopper played by Sanju Samson (109*) & Tilak Varma (120*), as both the players smashed their 2nd respective tons in the series.
Samson, scored 109* (56), which included 9 sixes and 6 boundaries. On other hand, Tilak smashed 120* (47) comprising 10 sixes and 9 boundaries.
The duo notched up 210 runs partnership, highest by any Indian pair in T20Is. India posted a total of 283-1 (20), their 2nd highest in the format and highest at Johannesburg.
Chasing 284 runs, South Africa completely looked on backfoot as Arshdeep Singh (3/20) & Hardik Pandya (1/8) put them under pressure rattling top order on 10/4.
Some good knocks from Tristan Stubbs (43), David Miller (36) entertained South African fans, however, 2-fers of Axar Patel (2/6), Varun Chakaravarthy (2/42) cleaned up Proteas for 148.
Tilak Varma won both Man of the match and series.
