Madrid/Budapest: Real Madrid and Manchester City have qualified for the Champions League quarterfinals after their win over Atlanta (3-1) and Borussia Monchengladbach (2-0) respectively.
Both the team were clear favourites coming to this match and wanted to win and qualify for the next round. Real had a fair game in the first leg with a 1-0 over Atlanta in Italy. Karim Benzema opened the scoring for the 13-time champions in the 18th minute and was followed by a penalty from Sergio Ramos in the 64th minute.
Luis Muriel scored one for Atlanta in the 82nd minute but a Marco Asensio goal in the 85th minute sealed the deal for Real with a 4-1 aggregate. City on the other hand continued with their dominant performance which they have been carrying out in the English Premier League.
They beat Monchengladbach with a 2-0 margin at the Puskas Areana. Goals from Kevin De Bryune and Ikay Gundogan sealed the deal for Pep Guardiola’s side as they marched to the next round with 4-0 aggregate over the German side.
