The Frenchman who finished at the Balon D’or list just a day ago slotted home Luka Modric’s wayward shot five minutes before half-time handing the Los Blancos full points at home.
The hosts were in full flow in the game enjoying much of the possession with Benzema continuing superb form.
Bilbao on the other had a tough night to deal with through they did test Ancelotti’s men going in to the break. In the second half too, the visitors went close in the 85th minute as Mikel Vesga attempted a bullet header from the six-yards through Eder Militao denied him ensuring the Los Blancos earn full points.
