Mumbai : Shardul Thakur’s incredible 113* (119) against Jammu and Kashmir (J & K) etched Mumbai’s comeback in Day 2 of Ranji Trophy 2024-25.
J&K started the day with 174/7, leading by 54 runs, after bundling Mumbai for 120 runs.
They lost the rest 3 wickets and managed to score 206 with 86 runs lead. Mumbai pacer Mohit Avasthi bagged 5/52.
Coming to Bat, Mumbai openers Rohit Sharma (28) gave fiery start forming 54 runs partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal (26). Rohit smashed 3 sixes and 2 boundaries before falling to Yudhvir Singh Charak.
Very soon Mumbai’s Batting with likes of Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Ajinkya Rahane, collapsed and they’re reduced to 91-6.
However, Mumbai gave a fight back from here. Shardul Thakur (113*) & Tanush Kotian (58*) etched unbeaten 173 runs partnership, saving Mumbai from bundling at low total, thereby, avoiding looming defeat.
Shardul’s 113* (119) included 17 boundaries that toiled J&K bowlers.
Both Shardul and Kotian are still at crease, with Mumbai’s score on 274-7, leading by 188 runs.
