Paris : Archers Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat secure victories in ranking round at Esplanade des Invalides to power Indian Men’s and Women’s Archery team to Quarter Final.
Dhiraj, the World Cup Bronze medalist, after a slow start made a great comeback, ended on 681 points. Men’s Archer team finished 4th in the seeding. Dhiraj will open his individual campaign on July 30 against Li Adam of Czech Republic.
Ankita Bhakat outshone her other Indian mates with likes of Deepika Kumari , former number 1 Archer, Bhajan Kaur. She finished on 11th spot & 666 points in the individual ranking. Indian Women’s Team clinched 4th place in the seeding. Ankita will face off against Reena Parnat of Estonia.
However, both teams might come face to face with invincible Korea in semi final, subject to qualification.
In mixed event, the Dhiraj-Ankita duo helped Indian Mixed Team qualify into the Quarter Finals with 1347 points and 5th spot.
Indian archers are expected to bring medals in Archery in Paris Olympics.
