Kolkata, June 16, 2025: The South African Test team proved their doubters wrong as they beat Australia by 5 wickets to lift the trophy at The Lord’s in England on Saturday, June 14. It was an emotional moment for the proteas, who ended their 27-year trophy drought with this victory, while also beating the defending champions on the way to becoming the World Test Champions.
In celebration of their victory, the Kolkata Knight Riders shared a heartfelt post of the South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma carrying the ICC Test Mace along with his young son, captioning the post “𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘚𝘪𝘮𝘣𝘢, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘥𝘰𝘮”

The post was much appreciated by the fans of the sport, who were calling it ‘the best tweet’ they have seen:
One fan also called the father-son duo as ‘amazing’, while another fan called it ‘the most wholesome thing on the internet’
In addition to the comments, fans also reposted the tweet, calling it the ‘G.O.A.T.’
The photo was taken while the skipper Bavuma was taking a lap of honour with his son, celebrating with his teammates and his family.
With South Africa positioned strongly at 213/2 on what would become the decisive day of the WTC Final at Lord’s, the Proteas needed just 69 more runs with eight wickets remaining. Despite the favourable situation, their fans remained anxious given the team’s tendency to crumble in high-pressure knockout scenarios at major tournaments.
This time, though, Aiden Markram saw the Proteas through, ending their long streak of ICC tournament disappointments. His exceptional innings of 136 proved instrumental as the Proteas successfully overcame the demanding 282-run chase with considerable comfort.
