Liverpool: Liverpool brought Manchester United’s winning streak to a shocking halt as Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah all scored twice in a record 7-0 win against the Carabao Cup winners in a Premier League match this Sunday on 5th March 2023.

Amod a little push, Manchester United was blown away in either side of the half-time. With the scoreline of 7-0, Liverpool registered their biggest win against the Red Devils ever since 1895, where the Red won 7-1 over Manchester United.

Until the 43rd minute, Erik ten Hag’s side looked marginally better but later it turned into a horror where they suffered the team’s worst defeat since 1931, a 7-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Another record was also made in this game, Md Salah became Liverpool’s all-time top scorers’ list with 129th Premier League goals leaving behind Robbie Fowler.

“No words [for what we just did],” Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp said after the match. “Super front foot, super lively, super active. They played great football against the team in form. First half, we got a bit wild in a way we didn’t want. Second half, obviously the start was pretty good, the finish was pretty good, everything else was pretty good.”

With the first attempt turned into a score, Gakpo gave the host a lead at the break.

Within five minutes of the restart, the game was over as a match as Darwin made it 2-0 with a header following some amusing United defending, and then Gakpo scored in style for 3-0 on a lightning Liverpool counterattack led by Salah.

Salah joined the action in the 66th minute to rifle in his team’s fourth goal, and Nunez later put a header past a hapless David De Gea in the 75th minute as United were in chaos and losing their cool. There was, however, still more to come.

Salah’s close-range shot added salt to United’s wounds.

United’s sobering defeat put them out of the title race, with 49 points. Arsenal is leading the league table with 63 points. However, Liverpool moved to fifth with 42 points having a game in hand.

“It was a fantastic day for everyone,” Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson told Sky Sports. “The performance level from every single player was top quality today which is something that we’ve been missing for a while of course.

“Today you could see the energy levels and everything was back, although to be fair the last few Premier League games had shown we were on the right path.”
