Buenos Aires: Argentine superstar Lionel Messi will not face any match ban in their following World Cup Qualifiers next month, Argentina Football Federation president Claudio Tapia has confirmed saying that there is no issue for Messi to play for the national side.
In the third-place match between Argentina and Chile in the 2019 Copa America, Messi and Garay Medel had a fight during the match following a heavy tackle at 37 minutes. This resulted in a red card for both players and subsequently one batch ban. Argentina won the match 2-1 with goals scored by Sergio Aguero and Paulo Dybala.
The continental football federation, CONMEBOL, has allowed Messi to play international friendlies against Brazil and Uruguay last year. But the issue has been resolved by Tapia after Messi successfully challenged his outstanding ban with the CONMEBOL, stating that the match ban limitations had expired.
