Kolkata : Lebanon have withdrawn from upcoming Tri Nation Tournament in Vietnam involving India and Vietnam, that was supposed to be held in October, due to ongoing GeoPolitical issues ; the Israel invasion on Lebanon.

In the wake of Israel’s attacks, the Lebanese Football Association (LFA) has also postponed all football matches in the domestic leagues indefinitely.

India was scheduled to face hosts Vietnam on October 9 and Lebanon on October 12.

As per reports, Vietnam now have offered India an option of playing International Friendly on October 9 & an unofficial match on October 12 but won’t be counted in the Ranking systems or points.

“The second game, if it goes ahead, is expected to be played behind closed doors with no restrictions on substitutions,” an official source said on Thursday. “It will be like a practice game with nothing at stake”, he added.

VFF is also in search of Lebanon’s replacement in this tournament.

This was big preparation for the teams ahead of Asian Qualifiers 2027. However, ongoing issues have put that in vain to some extent.
