Madrid :Former FC Barcelona player Luis Suarez heaped on a world of troubles for his former team as he scored one and assisted the other as he orchestrated the 2-0 victory of Atletico Madrid against Barcelona at Wanda Metropolitano.

Ronald Koeman’s men continued their poor form as Atletico Madrid had an easy game against the Catalans with their former player unleashing more misery on them just before the International break.

Suarez set up the opening goal which was scored by  Thomas Lemar, in return the Frenchman assisted the goal of Suarez, doubling Atletico’s lead and sealed the game for the defending champions of Spain.

The defeat came the same day as the President Joan Laporta announced that despite the poor form and irrespective of the result against the reigning champions of Spain, Koeman would continue to be the coach of Barcelona for the time being.

According to multiple sources and rumours, Barça are currently looking for a new coach but the change wont be made anytime soon much to the displeasure of the cules, who are currently frustrated with their team’s poor run in the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

“I knew [I wouldn’t celebrate] out of respect, out of affection, for being a Barca fan, for the time I spent at Barcelona, for the moment my ex-teammates are going through, the fans too, it’s difficult,” Suarez told the media, post the match. “It’s respect.” With this victory, Atletico Madrid moved to the second place in the league table behind city rivals Real Madrid.
