London :Chelsea moved to the top of the Premier League table as they defeated Southampton by 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. As for Manchester United, things did not look promising with a 1-1 draw against Everton at Old Trafford.

Chelsea took lead on nine minutes when Trevoh Chalobah scored for the Blues,  Ruben Loftus-Cheek flicked from a corner which was put past the goalkeeper by Chalobah. The hosts thought they doubled the lead on 36 minutes, but  the strike by Romelu Lukaku was cancelled by VAR.

James Ward-Prowse equalised the scoreline in the second half from the spot, later on he was sent off for a harsh tackle. With being down to ten men, Southampton were up for a uphill task. The Blues made most of the one man advantage as they scored twice in the last minutes.

Timo Werner and Ben Chillwell’s strike took Chelsea to the top of the Premier League table for the time being. Whereas, Andros Townsend scored an equaliser as United had to settle for another frustrating draw.

On 42 minutes, Anthony Martial put United in the front, but Townsend’s strike on 65 minutes brought them back into the game. Yerry Mina almost secured all the three points for his team but his goal was ruled out by the VAR.

Finally, Arsenal show cased another disappointing performance with a 0-0 draw against Brighton. It was Brighton who dominated most of the match, they missed only the flair in the attack, to win all three points. Mikel Arteta’s men are now ninth in the league following their impressive win against Tottenham in North London derby.
