Guwahati : NorthEast FC dominated the visitors completely at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium scoring 3 goals.
The opening few minutes saw the hosts somehow managing to defend the Chennaiyin attack , but, close to 1st half , Gogoi perfectly placed right footer outside the box after being assisted by Philippoteaux.

In the 2nd half, just 3 minutes after the start, the hosts extended the lead with the help of Phalguni’s goal. The scoreline was maintained by North East till the extra time but not before ending the match with a 3rd goal , scored by Akthar.
North East will next face Punjab FC on October 6 & Chennaiyin will take on defending champions Mohun Bagan on October 7.
