Mumbai: Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 by 17 runs. Mitchell Marsh’s splendid knock of 63(48) and Shardul Thakur’s impressive four-wicket haul and powered DC to the crucial 17-run victory.
Delhi Capitals named Khaleel Ahmed and Sarfaraz Khan in playing eleven. David Warner went on a duck from the first delivery off Livingstone’ bowling. Mitchell Marsh and Sarfaraz Khan handled the pressure well, dealing in boundaries. The fifty partnership came up right before Arshdeep Singh dismissed Sarfaraz. Rahul Chahar grabbed a sky-high catch off to put Delhi Capitals 59/2 at the end of the powerplay.
Lalit Yadav joined Mitchell Marsh to crunch the firts six of the innings. Delhi Capitals were 86/2 at the halfway stage. Arshdeep Singh deceived Lalit Yadav with a slower one Livingstone then scalped explosive batters Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell. Delhi Capitals were 116/5 with five overs to go.
Mitchell Marsh reached his half-century but Rabada brought an end to his innings, catching him at deep mid-wicket. Arshdeep conceded only 7 runs in the final over including a breakthrough of Shardul Thakur. Delhi Capitals posted 159/7 in the first innings.
Punjab Kings’ openers – Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow went for a terrific start with the bat. Bairstow smacked a four and a six each and holed out to the deep off Anrich Nortje. Shardul Thakur dismissed Rajapaksa and Shikhar Dhawan as Pinjab Kings were 54/3 at the end of 6 overs.
Punjab Kings lost the next three wickets simultaneously. Kuldeep Yadav’s brilliant bowling was followed after Axar Patel rattled the stumps of Mayank Agarwal. Livingstone was stumped in the 8th over and Harpeet Brar went by Yadav’s googly.
Punjab Kings’ Rishi Dhawan was scalped by Axar Patel as they were 8 down. Jitesh sharma notched the first six for Punjab Kings. Punjab Kings’ hundred was up in the 15th over. Shardul Thakur claimed Jitesh Sharma with a fantastic grab from David Warner. Rabada holed out to the deep by Thakur as well.
Nortje bowled the 18th over to concude only 3 runs.Punjab Kings required 26 off the final over but Thakur gave away only 8 runs to registered Delhi Capitals a 17-run victory.
