Mumbai: Rajasthan Royals were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, falling to their second consecutive defeat in the ongoing IPL 2022.

However, Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson appeared to be unhappy with the umpiring during the KKR innings. After the umpire signalled for a wide on a delivery delivered by Prasidh Krishna to Rinku Singh in the 19th over of KKR’s chase, Samson expressed his annoyance by opting for DRS.

Samson’s behavior went viral, and Twitter appeared to support the RR skipper by criticising the match’s umpiring.

Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull, who was commentating at the time, agreed that the umpire had made a mistake that day. “Understand the frustration there. Gave the umpire some credit a couple of balls ago but that one wasn’t (a wide). I think he (batter) is a long way outside the line of off-stump. To me, probably not a wide. Can understand a little bit of frustration, I guess, from Sanju Samson,” said Doull on-air.

After five losses in a row, it was KKR’s first win.
