Srikar Bharat stars as RCB beat Delhi Capitals in a last ball thriller

Dubai: A last-ball six by Srikar Bharat powered Royal Challengers Bangalore to a thrilling seven-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in Dubai on Friday.

Chasing 165, RCB got off to the worst start possible as Devdutt Padikkal (0) was sent back to the pavilion in the very first over by Anrich Nortje. Srikar Bharat and Glenn Maxwell played unbeaten knocks of 78 and 51 respectively. Mohammed Siraj was the most successful bowler for RCB with his two wickets. Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Daniel Christian got one wicket each. Patel took his 30th wicket of this season after dismissing Shikhar Dhawan and now he is just three wickets away to go past Dwayne Bravo’s 32 wickets in an IPL season that the most by any bowler.

After being sent to bat first, Delhi Capitals (DC) earlier put up 164 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their final league game of IPL 2021. Prithvi Shaw (48) and Shikhar Dhawan (43) added 88 runs for the first wicket. Apart from Dhawan and Shaw, Shimron Hetmyer also played a knock of 29.

Both the teams have already qualified for the playoffs and Delhi Capitals made their way into the top two. Delhi Capitals finished at the top spot in the points table and now the side will see against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Qualifier 1 on Sunday. On the other hand, RCB finished at the third spot and Virat Kohli’s team will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Eliminator on Monday.
