IND vs NZ Test: India outplay New Zealand to clinch series 1-0

Mumbai: India grabbed their biggest win by runs in the longest format of the game handing New Zealand a 372 run defeat in the second Test in Mumbai On Monday. The result saw the series 1-0 for the hosts with skipper Virat Kohli sealing his 50th victory in whites while leading.

Spinner Jayant Yadav(4/49) struck early the first half hour of Day 4 morning with four times being in nine legal deliveries helping the hosts wrap up the rest of the Kiwi batting line up who came out to bat with the overnight score of 140/5. Henry Nicholls and Rachin Ravindra played out the first 20 minutes against Jayant and Ashwin, with both spinners beating the outside edge nearly every over however soon it became evident that the match would not go much further in the day as Jayant cracked the tailenders in a brisk.

Earlier, India rode on Mayank Agarwal(150) and Axar Patel(52) to post 325 with Kiwi spinner Ajaz Patel(10/119) writing his name into history books picking all 10 wickets in an innings.

However, India came back through Mohammad Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin ran havoc at Wankhede on the second day bundling the Kiwis out for a mere 62 in their first innings placing India in comfort.

The hosts then piled the second innings lead through Mayank, Cheteshwar Pujara(47) and Axar Patel(41*) declaring at 276/7 handing the Blackcaps 540 runs to chase. Despite a brief resilience from Daryll Mitchell(60), the Kiwis were unable to withstand the India bowling getting all-out on 167.
