ISL 2022-23: Kwame Karikari steals show for Chennaiyin FC against ATK Mohun Bagan

Kolkata: A strong come back in the second-half made it all way for Chennaiyin FC. Coming in the 68th minute replacing bFallou Diagne, Kwame Karikari earned the equaliser. The winner was also gifted by Karikari as Rahim Ali shot in the 83rd minute.

The game started with ATK Mohun Bagan creating attacking note. However, they have failed to find the final pass despite a couple of crosses. While an edge shot from Dimitrios Petratos was saved by Debjit. Another Debjit’s first touch seemed poor which gives the ball to Manvir who squares it to Ashique. However, Debjit does well to save Kuruniyan’s grounded shot.

Manvir Singh broke the deadlock in the 27th minute. A strong counter-attacking Dimitrios Petratos passes a through ball to a speeding Manvir. Manvir takes his time to net past Debjit in the right corner. Ajith Kumar collected a yellow card in the 37th minute following a hand in Hugo Boumous’ face.

While the second-half started to pace up, the floodlights in K block of Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan dozed off. Around the 52nd minute, the game was called of for ten minutes following some technical difficulties leading to a slow down.

Light seems to come over Chennaiyin FC as Kwame Karikari earned a penalty. A following pass from Julius Duker attempted Karikari when Vishal Kaith pulled off at the last moment. The Ghananian forward made no mistake to ramp off the net in the 64th minute.

The second-half had about an equal possession as Chennaiyin FC hurdled to make some chances. In the 83rd minute, Karikari squares to roll the ball to Rahim Ali who bottled it in the right bottom corner. The last chance went with results as a 90 minute free-kick by Liston Colaco was saved by Debjit.
