Goa: FC Goa have registered their first victory of the season after they beat Kerala Blasters FC 3-1 in an exciting encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in Margao, Goa. Igor Angulo scored twice and while Jorge Ortiz netted once for the Gaurs. The only Kerala Blasters goal was scored by Vicente Gomez.

The match had everything to win for both sides. Both the team was desperate to win this encounter but the better team won after 90 minutes. The Gaurs were very natural on the night as they moved with silky touches which went missing in their first three encounters. Angulo was prolific gave Goa the lead in the 30th minute from a beautiful lob over rushing Kerala goalkeeper Albino Gomes.

The second goal came in the 52nd minute from a beautiful movement and understanding between Brandon Fernandes and Ortiz. Fernandes has no doubt played his best match this season and we hope some more is coming from this man.

Ortiz was the Most Valuable Player of the match, the way he played it certainly mesmerising to say at least. Kerela pulled one back in the 90th minute through Gomez before Angulo scored his second on the 90+4 minutes. He is now the current top scorer in the tournament – seven.

The win takes Goa to five points after four games also to the fifth spot while Kerala stay at the ninth spot with two points after four games. The way Gaurs started linking, it seems like the good days are coming back for the Goan team. All the big boys have performed and hopefully, the fans expect another excellent footballing season from them.

Kerala out of shape. The team under Kibu Vicuna hasn’t been playing as a side. They have big names like Gary Hooper and all but still, they need time to settle. Vicuna needs to make it right as soon as possible or else it will be hard for the side to continue in the playoffs run.
