Sydney: In the recent shocking turn of events, former Australia cricketer Stuart MacGill  was allegedly kidnapped from his house threatened at gunpoint. He was abducted from his house and confronted by a man on a street in Sydney’s north before two other men forced him into the car. Later he was taken to one corner of the city where he was mercilessly beaten and threatened Australian media reported Wednesday.

New South Wales state police described the victim of the April 14 alleged kidnapping only as a 50-year-old man. MacGill was widely identified as the victim, including in reports by the Australian Broadcasting Corp.

“I know it was only an hour that he was held but it would have been a horribly frightful hour to endure. About 8p.m. on Wednesday 14 April 2021, a 50-year-old man was allegedly confronted by a 46-year-old man (in) Cremorne,” New South Wales Police superintendent Anthony Holton said in a statement.

“A short time later the pair were approached by two other men, forcing the older man into a vehicle. He was then driven to a property at Bringelly, where the two men, plus another unknown man, allegedly assaulted the 50-year-old man and threatened him with a firearm. About an hour later, the man was driven to the Belmore area and released.” the statement added.

However, in the latest turn of events, there is a plot twist in his kidnapping case. According to police MacGill was allegedly confronted by a 46-year-old man about 8pm on April 14. That person is alleged to be Marino Sotiropoulos, the brother of MacGill’s girlfriend Maria O’Meagher as per the age, according to a report on Fox sports.

Police Superintendent Anthony Holton also said that MacGill was kidnapped by someone he knew. “I would be saying it was a personal relationship. And he’s essentially been betrayed by someone that he knew.”  If reports are to be believed on Wednesday, May 5, the Australian police put behind the bars four men in connection with the kidnap and assault of MacGill.
