England announce squad for India tour and ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Kolkata : England Cricket Board (ECB) has announced their ODI and T20I squads for India tour as well as ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

England will play 5 match T20I and 3 Match ODI series against India from January 22- February 12, 2025. Following this there’s the ICC Champions Trophy (CT). With England facing a five-match Test series at home to India starting in June before their pinnacle 2025/26 Ashes tour of Australia, team management have decided against risking inspirational red-ball skipper Stokes in the Champions Trophy.

In their ODI squad for the CT and England have ruled out Ben Stokes after recent injury he suffered during 3rd Test against New Zealand.

English veteran Joe Root has been roped in the ODI squad for both the events. He makes return to ODI for first time since conclusion of England’s dismal outing in ICC ODI WC 2023.

Other notable stalwarts like Chris Woakes, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Reece Topley, Johnny Bairstow were excluding from the squad.

Pacer Mark Wood also makes comeback to both squads after recovering from his injury for which he missed both Pakistan and New Zealand tours.

Skipper Jos Buttler along with Jacob Bethell, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Phil Salt, Jamie Smith, Liam Livingstone form the destructive Batting lineup.

In bowling, talisman pacer Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Saqib Mahmood, Brydon Carse, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton and spinners Adil Rashid, Rehan Ahmed (T20I) form spin department.
