BCCI announces Indian squad for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Kolkata : BCCI has announced 15 members Indian squad for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 on August 27.

Under leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, India is set to fight for their 1st Women’s T20 World Cup glory.

In top order, there’s power studded Batting lineup with likes of Vice Captain Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues. India will have another top order Batter Dayalan Hemalatha who’s replacing Yastika Bhatia at number 3 as backup.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh, Deepti Sharma shapes the middle order with ample power hitting and strength.

In bowling department there’s ample options with likes of pacers Renuka Thakur, Pooja Vastrakar & spinners Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil (subject to fitness).

The Women’s T20 World Cup will begin on October 3 in the UAE. Dubai and Sharjah will be the only two venues for the 23-match tournament, which will feature 10 teams, divided into two groups.

India have been clubbed with Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka in Group A, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland. Top 2 from each groups will advance to semi final.

Before beginning the campaign, India will play 2 Warm up matches against West Indies and South Africa on September 29 & October 1 respectively.

The Women in Blue will kick start their campaign on October 4 against New Zealand. 2 days later on October 6 , they’ll face arch rivals Pakistan.

They’ll next face Sri Lanka on October 9 , who defeated them in Asia Cup final. Lastly, India will end the group stage facing World champion Australia.
