Kolkata : Australian Chief selector George Bailey has confirm that David Warner, retired, won’t be available for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 selection.

Warner retired from all formats in International Cricket. He bid adieu to ODIs & T20Is after winning Odi Wc 2023 & group stage exit from T20 Wc 2024 respectively.

Despite being retired, Warner in an Instagram post said that he will be available for selection in Champions Trophy 2025 to be held in Pakistan.

Though he said that he “open to playing for (Australia) in the Champions Trophy if selected”, Bailey has ruled out all such speculations.

Bailey said, “Our understanding is that David is retired, and (he) should be commended on what has been an incredible career across all three formats. Certainly, our planning is that he won’t be there in Pakistan”.

“You never know when Bull’s joking…think he’s just stirring the pot a bit. He’s had a wonderful career, can’t celebrate it enough, and think as time goes by, his legacy of what he has done for Australia and we reflect back on that, the legend of a player is only going to continue to grow. But as far as this team goes and the journey to transition to some different players, in his case across all three formats, it’s going to be exciting,” he added.

Australia have already found replacement of Warner in top order – Jake Fraser Mcgurk, being selected for Scotland & England white ball series .

With such statements from selector and appropriate replacements, return of Warner is now completely ruled out.
