Ashutosh Sharma powers Delhi Capitals to their highest chase in IPL history

Visakhapatnam : Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 1 wicket at ACA International Stadium, Visakhapatnam in IPL 2025 clash. Ashutosh Sharma starred with 66*(31) helped Delhi Capitals pull off an impossible chase, their highest in IPL history.

DC bowling first picked wicket of Aiden Markram (15) for 46 runs.

Mitchell Marsh (72) & Nicholas Pooran (75) duo bashed 87 (42) runs stand, putting LSG to driving seat.

However, DC made great comeback in the death overs. Where LSG were 161-3 (13.4), they could only manage 48-6 in last 6.3 overs. Despite all these, LSG posted mammoth 209-8 (20).

Mitchell Starc (3/42), Kuldeep Yadav (2/20) bowled well and helped DC comeback into the game.

Chasing 210 runs, DC succumbed to pressure and were restricted to 7/3 at the beginning. Skipper Axar Patel (22), Tristan Stubbs (34), Faf Du Plessis (29) added vital runs. However, after losing them, at one point DC were 113-6 (12.3) with all main Batters in the pavilion.

Ashutosh Sharma (66*) who arrived at crease when DC were 65-5 built vital 55 (22) runs partnership with 20 years old Vipraj Nigam (39), whose cameo shifted momentum towards DC.

However, yet again, starting from 16th over, DC lost 2 quick wickets of Vipraj and Starc as they’re restricted to 171-8 (17.1).

Now Ashutosh Sharma took commands in his own hands and smashed Ravi Bishnoi for 17 runs (18th over) & Prince Yadav for 16 runs (19th over). In the same over of Prince, DC also lost Kuldeep Yadav via run out and were left with just 1 wicket in hand.

DC required 6 runs off last over, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant handed the ball to left arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed.

With Mohit Sharma on strike, the over saw lots of drama as Pant missed an easy stumping chance in very first Ball, and Mohit giving strike to Ashutosh in 2nd Ball.

Now, with 5 runs required off 4 Balls, Ashutosh smashed a straight 6 and pulled off an impossible chase for DC, their highest in IPL history.

For LSG – Shardul Thakur, Manimaran Siddharth, Digvesh Rathi, Ravi Bishnoi picked 2-fers.

Ashutosh’s innings of 66* (31) included 5 sixes and 5 boundaries, earning him man of the match.
