London :Manchester City edged past Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with a narrow 1-0 victory ending the Blues’ unbeaten start, courtesy a Gabriel Jesus’ on Saturday ( September 25). Elsewhere, Manchester United faltered against Aston Villa 1-0 at home, after a crucial  a spot-kick miss by Bruno Fernandes , on the sixth match day of Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s men had a close encounter with Chelsea, as one of Romelu Lukaku’s goal was ruled out for offside. Although, City maintained the maximum possession for the first half but Thomas Tuchel’s side maintained their defensive strength as the teams ended the first half 0-0.

Gabriel Jesus scored on 53 minutes breaking the deadlock, when Joao Cancelo won a corner, which was delivered short into the box and the shot from Jesus took a small deflection and went past  Edouard Mendy.

Jack Grealish came close to doubling City’s lead but it was well saved by Mendy. Following the defeat in UEFA Champions League Final, Pep’s men found their redemption against Chelsea.

Whereas, things did not look as promising for Manchester United as Bruno Fernandes missed a stoppage time penalty failing to score the equalizer. Aston Villa took the lead during the dying minutes when Kortney Hause scored on 88 minutes.

The hosts lost defenders Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire to injury and went into backfoot, Villa took advantage and went up by a goal. Although the guests had the chance to share a point when the referee signaled that Edison Cavani’s header hit Hause’s arm. Bruno stepped up to take the spot kick, but it went way over.

These results indicate if Liverpool manages to defeat Brentford they would climb to the top of the table for the time being.
