Kolkata : Maharashtra Cricket’s leading run scorer Ankeet Bawane has opened up on experience and lessons he learnt on sharing dressing room with former Indian legend Rahul Dravid.
Bawane worked with Rahul Dravid back in 2017 when Dravid was both coach of India A and Delhi Daredevils in IPL.
He was picked for both Delhi and India A and had time to work with Dravid and gather valuable experiences and lessons.
Bawane stated that Dravid is very calm and balanced, which was needed to guide any player. He always advised Bawane that selections are not under control of a Cricketer, but what everyone can do is to put up hardwork, improve and perform in whatever stages or levels they play, as all can control whatever is in their hands.
According to Bawane, when an Indian legend who’s scored more than 10,000 runs for India advices someone like this it boosts a player’s morale. This advice helped him to focus on the game and improve everyday.
“Experience was great, he (Rahul Dravid) was coach of India A also, he’s calm and balanced, he always used to tell me selections and other things are not in your hand, as a cricketer you can always keep improving and performing in whatever stages you’re playing. I really liked his words as what I can control I want to control that. I put in a lot of hardwork and take pride in the way I play the game. It was a great time with him as he’s a legend of Indian team and when somebody who’s scored more that 10,000 runs for Indian team telling you on don’t focus on selections and keep improving as a player that boosts your morale and helps you to focus on your game & keep playing everyday“, Bawane said on sharing experiences with Dravid in Delhi Daredevils and India A , over an exclusive phone interview with Sportslight Media.
Notably, Bawane had great domestic seasons during that period but was ignored by Indian selectors. This advice from Dravid helped him boost his morale and he has polished himself better even then.
