Vigo: A 10-man Barcelona defeated Celta Vigo 3-0 in La Liga in a tough fixture with adverse weather conditions at Balaidos on Friday (October 2). It was also the Catalan giants’ first victory at Balaidos since April 2015. Clement Lenglet was sent off after he was shown the second yellow card.
Young sensation Ansu Fati opened the scoring on 11 minutes giving the visitors an early lead. The Spaniard now has three goals in two matches since their campaign kick-started. Gerard Pique escaped a red card when the player was declared offside. But such was not the case for Lenglet who was shown the controversial second yellow card of the game when he fouled former Barcelona player Denis Suarez on 42 minutes.
Ronald Koeman brought in Ronald Araujo in place of Antoine Griezmann to restructure his team. The second half saw the Barcelona players hungry for another goal playing They played with utmost zeal.
Barcelona were benefitted with an own goal by Lucas Olaza from Leo Messi’s buildup on 51 minutes. Messi was denied a name on the scoresheet after his goal was ruled offside before Sergi Roberto put in the third on 90+5′ minutes.
Koeman’s men walked away with a hard-earned victory amidst rainy and windy weather and playing with one less man and eventually from a stadium where their previous few records were tarnished. This will definitely give them the confidence boost for their next big match against Sevilla in Camp Nou.
