New Delhi: Former India skipper and current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has made yet another big revelation, hinting that the ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar could make his much-awaited return to Team India, in a different capacity.

Since the arrival of  Sourav as the president of BCCI, several former cricketers have been approached for various roles to continue strengthening Indian cricket. Several former cricketers have been recently involved in Indian cricket in coaching or a mentorship role. While the likes of Anil Kumble and Ravi Shastri served as head coach of the side, the legendary MS Dhoni recently became a part of the team as India’s mentor for the T20 World Cup 2021.

Talking to journalist Boria Majumdar during ‘Backstage with Boaria’, Ganguly opined that there cannot be bigger news for Indian cricket than the involvement of Sachin in the team.

“Sachin is obviously a bit different. He doesn’t want to be involved in all this. I’m sure with Sachin’s involvement in Indian cricket in some way, it can’t be a piece of better news than that,” he told Boria Majumdar in his show ‘Backstage with Boria.’

Another Indian great Rahul Dravid is also appointed the head coach of the Indian team while VVS Laxman has taken over the new Director of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. With Ganguly hinting at the inclusion of none other than batting legend Sachin Tendulkar in an official role in Indian cricket, it certainly seems that Sachin Tendulkar is next in line.

Besides, Ganguly also highlighted the recent conflict of issues that keeps cropping up in the news. Ganguly said Tendulkar’s transition can be smooth. And he is keen to work things out amid the presence of ‘conflict of interest’.

“In what way that obviously needs to be worked out. Because there is too much conflict all around. Rightly or wrongly, anything and everything you do you have the word ‘conflict’ keeps jumping out of the window, some of which I find unrealistic. So you have to see the best way to keep the best talent involved in the game. And at some stage Sachin will also find a way to be involved in Indian cricket,” he added.
