Kolkata: Fast bowler Avesh Khan on Sunday became the 96th player to represent the Men in Blue in the shortest format of the game. He received his debut cap from senior teammate Bhuvneshwar Kumar ahead of the third T20I against West Indies in Kolkata.

Talking about the big day and the of emotions he went through, Avesh said that it was a dream come true moment for him, as it is for innumerable young budding cricketers.
“Nervousness is bound to happen. When I got to learn that I am playing, making my debut I was a little nervous because the thing for which I have been working hard was finally going to get fulfilled,” Avesh told his fellow opener Venkatesh Iyer in a chat on BCCI TV.

The right-arm fast bowler, who had a sensational outing in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) while representing Delhi Capitals (DC) revealed that there were a few ‘nervous’ moments while playing but the backing from skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid calmed him down. Adding that he had enjoyed the entire game as India clinched the T20I series 3-0 against the West Indies.

“Rohit bhai (Rohit Sharma) backed me, Rahul sir  told me to enjoy my debut game. This day is not going to comeback again and I just enjoyed.” he added.

However, Avesh didn’t leave much of an impact in his T20I debut, conceding 42 runs from his four overs for no wickets. The 25-year old concluded by saying that now he wants to serve Indian cricket as much as possible for longer.

“It was a nice feeling. Every player has a dream to play for India and my dream got fulfilled today (Sunday). I am feeling very good. I enjoyed the moment, the entire match and we won the match as well. I will try to serve the Indian team as much as possible,” Avesh added.

India will now face Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series starting from February 24 in Lucknow.
