Bayern Munich, Chelsea comfortably qualify for Champions League quarterfinals

Munich : Defending champion Bayern Munich and Chelsea FC has qualified for the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League after their victory over Lazio (2-1) and Atletico Madrid (2-0) respectively.

Both the side were confident coming to this game as they won the first leg and had the away goal advantage coming to this match and it certainly panned out in a correct manner at the end of the day.

Bayern would have went passed easily as they have been holding a strong hold in the tournament. They already won the first leg, 4-1 in Italy and it was just a matter of time to finish, Lazio at the Allianz Arena.

Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring for the German side, in the 33rd minute from the penalty spot. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored the second goal in the 73rd minute of the match. Marco Parolo reduced the deficit for the Italian club and the match ended 2-1 in favour of Bayern and they qualify to the quarter finals with a comfortable, 6-2 aggregate.

Chelsea on the other hand has been playing some good football under their new manager Thomas Tuchel. They already had a 1-0 advantage over Diego Simone’s Atletico side and were confident to finish the tie on a high note. Hakim Ziyech opened the scoring for the Blues in the 34th minute and Emerson scored a late goal in the 90+4 minute and won the match for his side with a 3-0 aggregate over Atletico.
