Manchester: Former England striker Michael Owen has lauded the two young England footballers Phil Foden and Mason Mount after their exquisite display in ongoing Champions league stating that they have the potential to be “two of the best players in the world in the future”.

Both of the youngsters will go against each other when Manchester City meet Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul. While Foden sparkled for the “Citizens” under Pep Guardiola for the past couple of season, Mount has shown real progress this season in the blues shirt especially in the Champions League knock-out stages.

‘It’s so exciting for the summer of course with England.”  added Owen

“I think Mount, and Foden for that matter, are going to be two of the best players in the world in the future. They’re that good. It’s going to be so exciting to watch that.’’

Despite being so good, they will have their fair share of competitors in the game as they progress  through their career, however the former English strikes feel both of the youngster have it in them to go at the top with Foden being a generational talent.

“ They’re going to get there, Mount is a phenomenal player – but Foden can be one of the best players England has ever seen.”

Although Foden has soaked up much of the spotlight, Mount’s numbers somehow went the radar. According to Opta, the Chelsea man, who usually plays as no 10 has involved creating 97 chances in all competitions which around 2.3 per 90 minutes. As for Foden though, who moulded himself a dynamic player ready to play in either in middle of the park or on the wings has a higher passing rate than Mount with 87.7% in this season. Foden was superb in both quarter finals and the semi-final dictating the tempo with his Skipper Kevin De Bruyne. However, it will be interesting to who comes atop when these two heavyweight English club meet at the end of this month.
