Dambulla, November 10, 2024 : Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets at Rangiri Stadium, Dambulla & go 1-0 up in the 2 match T20I series.
Bowling 1st , Sri Lankan bowlers with likes of spinners Maheesh Theekshana (1/21), Dunith Wellalage (3/20), Nuwan Thushara (2/14), Wanindu Hasaranga (2/20) , Matheesha Pathirana (2/20) rattled Kiwi top order.
Despite great fights from Michael Bracewell (27), Zakary Foulkes (27*) , the Black Caps got bundled at 135 runs.
Chasing 136 runs, Foulkes picked 3-fer and tried to put pressure on Sri Lanka. However, skipper Charith Asalanka’s (35*) powered Sri Lanka to win in 19th over.
Asalanka was also adjourned Man of the Match for his heroics.
Sri Lanka will face New Zealand for 2nd T20I on November 10, 2024 .
