New Delhi: All the eight Indian Premier League franchises on Tuesday will reveal the list of players they have decided to retain before the mega auction ahead of IPL 2022. Amid all this, multiple reports have emerged that IPL franchises Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have lodged a complaint against the newly added Lucknow franchise ahead of the retention deadline.

The Lucknow franchise has allegedly approached KL Rahul and Rashid Khan, for the IPL 2022 season. KL Rahul led the Punjab King last year, while Rashid Khan has been a match-winner for SRH. The management of PBKS and SRH have accused the Lucknow franchise of approaching players before retentions.

A BCCI official confirmed that a verbal complaint has been received from 2 franchises about players being approached by the newly added Lucknow franchise. The official also added that the Indian board is now looking into the complaints and that proper action will be taken if this is found to be true.

“We haven’t received any letter but we have received a verbal complaint from two franchises about players poaching by Lucknow team. We are looking into it, and we will take appropriate action if it proves to be true,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying to Inside Sport.

He further added that it is not fair to the existing teams when players are approached in this manner. “We don’t want to disturb the balance. You cannot avoid such things when there is fierce competition. But it’s not fair to the existing teams when they are trying to balance everything”, BCCI official said.

According to reports, the Lucknow franchise have offered in excess of Rs 20 crore to Team India’s T20 vice-captain to leave Punjab Kings. An offer of Rs 16 crore has also been made to Rashid Khan of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
