Malappuram: West Bengal State football team, bolstered their journey in the 75th National Championship for Santosh Trophy with a 3-0 victory against Rajasthan at Kottapaddi Stadium on April 24th. Fardin Ali Molla scored a brace while Sujit Singh scored another. The win took the Bengal side to the semi-finals of the tournament with nine points from four games.

The side started their campaign in the round robin stages with a 1-0 win against Punjab. Despite faltering to hosts Kerala in the second game, Ranjan Bhattacharya and co. picked up their pace with a hard fought 4-3 win against Meghalaya and finally a comfortable 3-0 win against Rajasthan. Fardin emerged as the top scorer for Bengal with four goals to his name followed by sensation Mohitosh Roy with two goals.

Bengal is set to face the likes of Manipur in the semifinals who are the group toppers from the other group while Kerala is set to face Odisha.
