Kolkata : Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has filed complaint against former Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar.

Rohit has seen his form hit rock bottom in recent past, not only with Bat but also onfield captaincy. India got whitewashed to New Zealand 3-0 in Home soil.

Following this, he had dismal outing with Bat and captaincy in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. After India won first Test under Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy at Perth, Rohit joined the team as captain. India lost 2nd, 4th Test and tied the 3rd Test. Rohit’s Batting form was poor as he only managed 31 runs in 6 innings. He stepped down as a result from 5th Test, however, India lost that too.

Following these outcomes, Sunil Gavaskar took harsh criticism of Indian captain Rohit Sharma. The Little Master questioned Rohit’s Batting approach, captaincy effectiveness. Pointing his stepping down from 5th Test, Gavaskar predicted that Rohit’s Test career might have pulled down the curtains. Besides this, he suggested change in India’s Red Ball captain.

According to reports from Cricblogger, the criticism did not sit well with Sharma. Feeling the scrutiny was unfair, he reportedly lodged a formal complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) against Gavaskar. Sharma also cited external factors that he believed had contributed to his poor performances during the series.

A source close to the matter revealed, “Rohit felt that it was not necessary for Sunil Gavaskar to criticize him in that fashion, and that’s why he complained to the BCCI about Gavaskar. All these added so much pressure that he was compelled to tell it all to BCCI.”
