Sydney: Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne engaged in a hilarious banter with India’s youngster Shubman Gill during the second day of the 3rd Test in Sydney on Friday (January 8). As the Indian player came out to bat, Labuschagne asked Gill about his favourite batsman to which the latter replied “I will tell you after the match.”
Marnus further went on to ask whether it was Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli.
“After the ball… Sachin? Do you reckon Virat?” Labuschagne added. His banter continued as he went on to tease veteran opening batsman Rohit Sharma.
His words continued when Rohit Sharma was on strike. “hey what did you do in quarantine?” he asked the opener, who made a comeback to Indian XI in this Test match after spending 14 days in quarantine.

While in Day-2 at stumps, India were 96 for 2 with the loss of both the openers. Rohit scored 26 before falling to Hazlewood and Gill went on to score his maiden 50 before falling to Cummins. Earlier in the day, Australia went on to score 338 banking upon a fine century from Steve Smith, while Marnus falling nine run short of his ton.
