Kolkata: India’s 2022 U-19 World Cup-winning skipper Yash Dhull has been on a quest to set new records on a regular basis. He slammed another century to become the third batter in the history of the Ranji Trophy to hit a hundred in each innings of his first-class debut.

The Delhi opener made merry in the 2nd innings of Delhi’s Elite Group H match against Tamil Nadu at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati.

As Delhi reached 228 for 0 before the Group H match concluded in a draw, Dhull smashed 113 in 202 balls with 14 fours and an undefeated six-wicket partnership. Then, in the second innings, he struck another century, which was also his maiden in first-class cricket. Dhull scored 226 runs in the match, confirming his status as one of the most promising young batters in the sport.

He has also become the sixth batter from Delhi to get centuries in both innings of the Ranji Trophy, joining a club featuring Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Surinder Khanna, Madan Lal, Ajay Sharma, Raman Lamba, and Rishabh Pant.

Bengal, on the other hand, pulled an unexpected turnaround to register a four-wicket win against Baroda in its Ranji Trophy Elite Group B encounter at the Barabati Stadium, owing to the pair of RCB allrounder Shahbaz Ahmed and debutant Abhishek Porel, who both hit wonderful half-centuries.

Abhishek-Shahbaz’s 107-run stand helped Bengal win the Ranji Trophy by defeating Baroda by 4 wickets.
