Kolkata: When the two sides meet in the third and final T20I at Eden Gardens, India will have a chance to make it three straight clean sweeps over the West Indies. After defeating West Indies 3-0 in the last ODI series, India took a 2-0 lead in the series with a dramatic eight-run triumph on Friday.
Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell scored 100 runs in 60 balls in Kieron Pollard’s 100th T20I, bringing West Indies from a seemingly hopeless situation to within a whisker of victory.
India will certainly make significant changes now that the series has been decided and Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant were freed from the bio-bubble. There will be a chance for Ruturaj Gaikwad, who last played a T20I in July 2021, and Shreyas Iyer, on his new IPL home ground.
On Friday night, the West Indies, who are still winless on the tour, appeared to have reduced the gap between the two sides, but they still need to smooth off some rough edges.
