Mumbai: As per the latest reports, Indian Premier League franchise Lucknow Super Giants are likely to rope in Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed as England pacer Mark Wood’s replacement for the 2022 edition of IPL.

The England fast bowler, who was bought for a whopping 7.5 crore in the mega auction last month, has been ruled out of the upcoming season after sustaining an elbow injury during the first Test against West Indies in North Sound last week.

The Bangladeshi pacer is currently in South Africa, playing white-ball series for his team and he has been also named in the Test squad for the two-match series against South Africa. However, two-time IPL-winning captain and Lucknow’s mentor Gautam Gambhir seems to rate Taskin pretty high as he wants to bag his services for the forthcoming IPL.

“I want Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed in the team and that is for the whole season. If he agrees to the offer, Taskin will have to leave for India before the next two Tests against South Africa,” Gautam Gambhir was quoted as saying to Bangladesh website, Kaler Kanth.

However, if he accepts the offer of Lucknow Super Giants mentor he will have to miss the Test series. As per reports, he has asked for some time to discuss the proposal with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
