Paris : Indian Badminton icon P.V. Sindhu starts off her Paris Olympics 2024 campaign with sheer dominance, defeating Maldivian Faithimath Razzaq 21-9, 21-6 in Badminton Women’s Singles (Group Stage) & edges closer to Round of 16.
Sindhu, in 29 minutes game displayed her hunger of 3rd consecutive Olympics medal after Rio (2016) & Tokyo (2020).
1ST SET
Sindhu dominated Razzaq in both sets. In 1st set, Sindhu quickly took 11-4 lead. The Maldivian failed to keep up with her & started making errors. Sindhu with her experience capitalized on those and clinched the set 21-9.
2ND SET
In 2nd set, despite Razzaq showing some fight, Sindhu with aggressive smashes, & strategic gameplay dominated 21-6 , to secure victory in straight sets.
Sindhu, sitting comfortably on top of Group M, will next face Estonia’s Kristin Kuuba.
