Hooliganism in amongst Indian Football is nothing new, but sometimes, all limits get crossed and matters become serious, and no steps were taken. Such is a thing that happened yesterday during Jamshedpur clash.
As per reports, after the match ended, with Jamshedpur FC finishing on 2-1, Jamshedpur supporters heaped abuse on MBSG fans. There were constant racism chants, and they were abused as Bengalis. Nothing was done to stop things from escalating.
In Jamshedpur, there is no buffer zone between the home and away team’s fans, and it is always a possibility that things get out of hand. That’s what happened when the banter went out of hand. MBSG flags were attacked and when supporters tried protecting the flag, physical abuse started. It continued post-match when continuous abuse was heaped on them.

According to some footages in Social Media, MBSG fans were seemingly involved in physical altercations with the Jamshedpur fans, with police getting involved in the encounter and forcibly removing MBSG fans whilst charging with lathis, leaving fans bleeding and injured.
“We at Mohun Bagan Super Giant strongly condemns the misbehavior and aggression of the security and management staff of the away stand of JRD Tata Sports Complex,” wrote the ISL League Shield winners in their social media post.
“We must all remember. Football is nothing without fans,” the club added.
Multiple Mohun Bagan fan clubs also came out on social media in support of their club with demands of strong action against security personnel being raised.
Mohun Bagan fan group, Mariners Arena took to social media to express their frustration, stating, “Each and every time Mohun Bagan supporters experience physical assaults in the hands of hooligans during away matches at Jamshedpur. They can be anything but football fans. Does this have no solution?”

The group further alleged that individuals posing as Jamshedpur FC supporters regularly harass and assault visiting Mohun Bagan fans, tear down banners and flags, and instigate violence. According to their statement, when they protest against such actions, “the matter often gets out of control, and instead of stopping these goons, Jharkhand police start beating up Mohun Bagan supporters.”
They also claimed that several fans were severely injured and required hospitalization following the latest incident.
Mohun Bagan secretary Debasish Dutta came forward to meet the injured fans, providing help in getting treatment. Mohun Bagan players were concerned too regarding the injured fans and ensured a revengeful victory against Jamshedpur in Kolkata leg.
This is reportedly the third consecutive time that Mohun Bagan supporters have faced violence during away matches in Jamshedpur.
