Abbotsford: Mauro Ranallo has finally left WWE as a Sports announcer. Ranallo had announced his departure on his Facebook page, as he had written, “I appreciate the opportunity I had to realize my childhood dream of working in sports entertainment, and I wish WWE well in the future. Now I want to direct my focus and devote my time to my other projects and to my mental health charitable activities and the well-being of my mother and myself.”

Ranallo was almost done with his WWE career at some point in the final few weeks, according to a report given by PWInsider. One source speculated that the departure occurred immediately after the “Takeover: XXX” event during SummerSlam Weekend. There had been rumors and talks in WWE since the last week that Ranallo would be leaving soon or has already made up his mind but the final information was hard to arrive so soon.

Mauro had missed the NXT Takeover event that took place ahead of this month and it was later revealed that he had missed the show due to a family emergency return to his home in Canada.

Though there have been no such announcements on what is going to happen to the team of NXT commentary, which presently consists of Vic Joseph and the WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix. Wade Barrett had done a guest commentary last week and is also supposed to return for more guest commentaries at this week’s NXT Super Tuesday special. It had been revealed today that Barrett had negotiated for a full-time contract with WWE to do NXT commentary. It was previously declared that Ranallo is supposed to do commentary for the 2K WWE Battlegrounds video game with the WWE Hall of Fame Jerry Lawler.

Ranallo had first signed with WWE in 2015 but disjoined with the company in 2017 for a break for some time. He had returned in June 2017 and directed the NXT announce team, and had signed a multi-year deal during that time.
