Kolkata: Bengal senior batsman Manoj Tiwary will miss the team’s pre-season camp initially at the Jadavpur University second campus ground at Saltlake from Friday owing to a knee injury.

Tiwary has been instructed to take rest and undergo rehabilitation to make himself accessible soon in the camp. He has suffered the cartilage injury on his left knee and will be joining the camp as soon as he recovers.

Meanwhile, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Thursday (January 28) named a 32-member camp under the batting consultant VVS Laxman.

“I have a cartilage injury on my left knee from the beginning of the season that has aggravated. I have been advised to rest and will be back as soon as my rehab is complete,” the former Bengal skipper said.

The middle-order batsman did not find runs in the recently finished Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 meet that saw Bengal being knocked out in the group stage. However, Bengal will hope for his speedy recovery as he remains the team’s mainstay in the upcoming other domestic matches.

“Manoj is nursing an injury and will not be attending the camp for now. He will join as soon as he is able to resume practice,” said CAB Joint Secretary Debabrata Das.

CAB will also organise a blood donation camp on February 3 at Eden Gardens and in the districts to mark its foundation day. The donors will receive certificates from India pacer Jhulan Goswami.

“The blood donation camp will be organised on February 3 at Eden Gardens and the districts maintaining all protocols applicable in this Covid situation. Jhulan Goswami will be the first woman cricketer to be signing the blood donation certificates for this noble cause,” said CAB President Avishek Dalmiya.

“We are very happy to have Jhulan as a signatory for the blood donation certificates,” Debabrata signed off.
