Lucknow Super Giants clinch close run fest encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025

Kolkata : Lucknow Super Giants defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 4 runs at Eden Gardens.

Batting first, LSG openers Mitchell Marsh (81) & Aiden Markram (47) smashed 90 runs opening stand. Marsh went on to put another 71 runs partnership with Nicholas Pooran (87*).

Pooran with knock of 87*(36) smashed KKR bowlers all over the park in death overs including 8 sixes and 7 boundaries, to put total of 238-3 (20).

KKR started off in style with Sunil Narine (30) & skipper Ajinkya Rahane (61) smashing 89 runs in powerplay, losing Quinton de Kock (15) early. However, immediately after powerplay, Narine departed on 91.

Rahane notched up 71 runs partnership with Venkatesh Iyer (45), and was dismissed in 13th over, of Shardul Thakur on 162.

The game began shifting towards LSG as KKR lost quick 5 wickets in 3 overs and were reduced from 162-2 (12.5) to 185-7 (16.1).

Rinku Singh with aggressive knock of 38* (10) tried hard in the end but eventually KKR fell short by 4 runs, with Ravi Bishnoi defending 24 runs off the last over.

Pooran was adjourned man of the match for his heroics.
