Lisbon: The 19-year-old Canadian Alphonso Davies is having the best time of his career. After slaughtering Barcelona 8-2 in the Champions League quarterfinals, his side marched to the final with a 3-0 comprehensive victory against Lyon last Wednesday.

In a post-match interview, Davies revealed something about the match against Barcelona. He has always been vocal about the fact that his idol in football is Lionel Messi and how much he adores him since a child. After facing his idol and winning against him, Davies asked for his shirt and Messi refused to give him, — preferably because of the battering that night.

“I asked for it, but I think he was a little bit upset, so next time, hopefully,” said Davies.  The teenage sensation is thrilled to play his first-ever Champions League final and expects to emerge champions. He knows it won’t be easy but he believes in his idol and in his teammates and hoping to present the Bavarians their sixth Champions League trophy after seven years.
