Paris: French football star Kylian Mbappé revealed to have told Paris Saint-Germain about his desires to leave the club in the summer itself.
“I asked to leave, because from the moment I did not want to extend, I wanted the club to have a transfer fee to be able to sign a quality replacement.” said Mbappé to RMC Sport.
Mbappé’s future at the Parisian club was much in question after the French star had reportedly denied multiple contract renewals to an extent that the reports claimed Mbappé had stopped recievimg calls from PSG Sporting Director Leonardo.
The specualtions were fueled amid avid interest from Spanish Giants Real Madrid who were ready to offer €200m for the youngster , although PSG were said to have declined the offer being confident that the star with renew.
Speaking on the whole transfer fiasco, Mbappé said ,
“People said I turned down six or seven extension offers, that I don’t want to talk to Leonardo anymore, that’s absolutely not true.”
“I asked to leave, because from the moment I did not want to extend, I wanted the club to have a transfer fee to be able to sign a quality replacement.”
“It is a club which has given me a lot, I have always been happy, the four years that I spent here, and I still am. I announced it early enough that the club can react.
“I wanted everyone to come out of this stronger, that we leave hand in hand, to make a good deal, and I respected that. I said, ‘if you don’t don’t want me to leave, I will stay’.” added the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner.
A lot of reports claimed that Mbappé’s desire to move to Real Madrid had made him distanced from the teams, finding faults of his teammates , after he was recently seen calling Neymar names on getting substituted for Julian Draxler, after the Brazilian failed to provide him with any assist. Finally Mbappé opened on the issue.
Speaking to L’Équipe, the PSG forward said : “Yes, I called Neymar ‘bum’ because I wasn’t happy with a pass. These are things which happen all the time in football. That’s why, right after, given how it blew up, I spoke to him about it. This happens because we want to win. That’s it – no issue”.
As the current situation stands, Mbappé will be surely finding a new location as his contract expires and Real Madrid still remain first in line to sign him.
