Kolkata: Chennaiyin Fc ended their Kolkata campaign with a narrow win against East BEngal FC. The visitors won 1-0 in the Indian Super League (ISL) at he Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. The only shot in the net for Chennaiyin FC was hit by Vafa Hakhamaneshi in the 69th minute.

Jordan O’Doherty found himself in the Chennaiyin box with two minutes of the game. Fallou Diagne stopped his cross in its tracks before it could cause any harm. Just after the ten-minute mark, Anirudh Thapa found Petar Sliskovic at the other end with a through pass. Due to the acute angle, Sliskovic’s shot hit the post.

Nearing the halfway mark of the first half, Suhair Vadakkepeedika attempted to surprise the guests with a swift counterattack. Suhair sprinted toward goal but missed the far post with his shot as the flag remained down. Thapa sold a dummy inside the East Bengal box in the 34th minute before Kamaljit Singh blocked his hard shot.

A Chennaiyin FC corner was only cleared as far as Rahim Ali, who was waiting at the edge of the box, five minutes into the second half. The striker attempted to hit the bottom right corner on the volley, but his shot was barely wide. After waiting three minutes, Kamaljit made another remarkable save to stop Prasanth Karuthadathkuni.

Up until the 69th minute, the game had 0-0 written all over it. Hakhamaneshi was the first to reach a good ball that substitute Akash Sangwan whipped in from a corner and nodded it in from close range to give the Marina Machans an important lead. But because of his celebration, the Iranian defender was given a second caution of the match, leaving the visitors with just ten players.

The Torch Bearers were reduced to ten men as well in a little more than five minutes after the incident. After elbowing Anirudh Thapa in the middle of the field, Sarthak, who had already been issued a booking in the first half, was given the boot.
