Kerala Blasters rope in Bengaluru FC’s playmaker ahead of ISL 2021-22

Kochi: Indian Super League (ISL) side Kerala Blasters FC have announced arrival of Indian  defender Harmanjot Khabra ahead of the upcoming season. As per reports, the veteran lad will stay with the side till 2023, after recently ending his spell with Bengaluru FC. The club announced the signing on Thursday (July 15).

“I am very excited to join Kerala Blasters”, Khabra added on the move.

“The opportunity to play for the passionate Yellow Army aligns with my love and passion for the game. I look forward to donning the KBFC colors with pride and hunger. And I’m very keen to meet my new teammates and start preparing for the journey ahead”, he further added.

A seasoned campaigner, Khabra is a versatile player being able to aid both in defense and in midfield

.A product of the Tata Football Academy, the lad had started out senior career with I-League side Sporting Club de Goa back in the 2006 helping the side reach the finals of the Federation Cup while also winning the most promising player of the year in the 2006 Durand Cup. Perhaps Khabra’s defining spell in his career came when he was signed for East Bengal in 2009 with whom he actually made a name for himself spending a career defining 7 seasons while also making  his continental debut in the 2010 AFC Cup.

A move to Chennaiyin FC followed in the inaugural season of ISL while winning the title in 2015. The last stint with Bengaluru FC saw him shift from midfield to the backline playing a key role in “Blues” 2018-19 ISL title winning campaign. With an experience of 102 in the ISL, the 4th highest to be precise, Khabra can bring solidity as well as leadership to Kerala. This is the fourth new signing this season for the “Tuskers” having already secured Sanjeev Stalin, Hormipam Ruivah and Vincy Barreto.
