Chelmsford: Danielle Wyatt smashed an unbeaten 89 in the final T20I as England women clinched an eight-wicket victory against India women, thus claiming the series 2-1 on Wednesday. Wyatt led the charge alongside Nat Sciver (42) at the County Ground in Chelmsford as England women reached 154 with eight balls to spare after Smriti Mandhana’s 51-ball 70 put India to 153/6.

With the series 1-1 after two games, Wednesday’s game was all to play for. However, India’s decision to bat first didn’t go as planned as they lost Shafali Verma and Harleen Deol early in the innings. Madhana alongside skipper Harmanpreet Kaur kept the visitors in the hunt for a good score adding 68 runs for the third wicket before Sciver sent the latter home for a fighting 36.

England bowlers kept the pressure throughout the innings especially Sophie Ecclestone (3/35) and Katherine Brunt (2/17). Mandhana’s half-century anchored the innings as wickets kept falling at the other end. Richa Ghosh added a late flourish to help India post a competitive total.

In reply, It was all about the Wyatt and Sciver show. The duo added a staggering 112-run partnership for the second wicket which pretty much sealed the game as the Indian bowlers failed to get a grip of the hosts. Sciver, who has been on a purple patch, was adjudged the Player of the series.
