ISL 2022-23, Kolkata Derby: ATK Mohun Bagan continue unbeaten run against East Bengal

Kolkata: An attacking ATK Mohun Bagan kept the winning streak against arch rivals East Bengal FC. With a full control over the game, the Mariners sealed the game with two goals. For ATK Mohun Bagan, Frenchman Hugo Boumous scored the opener in the 55th minute, Manvir Singh doubled the lead within 10 minutes.

Despite a late for half an hour, the Kolkata derby between ATK Mohun Bagan and East Bengal FC started with a well-balanced attack from the Green and Maroon. The match was attended by more than 62,500 audience at the Vivekanand Yuva Bharati Krirangan on saturday, 29th October, 2022.

The first close attack from ATK Mohun Bagan came within five minutes of the game from Subhashis Bose from the left flank which went far off the target. ATK Mohun Bagan coach Juan Fernando set an attacking field to go all in against arch rivals East Bengal FC.

The first close call of East Bengal FC came in 15 minute. A brilliant ball into the box by Mahesh was met by Semboi who got denied by goalkeeper Vishal Kaith. The highly intensified match resulted in an early yellow card for East Bengal FC. Charalambos Kyriacou was warned in the 27th minute as for a harsh tackle on Frenchman Hugo Boumous.

A bit of words exchange between Ceilton Silva and Joni Kauko put both the teams on dagger in the 31st minute. Dmitri Petratos got offended on Jordan Luis when the later was given a free kick for mild push . The East Bengal defense got questioned many a times as a couple of strong attack from Dmitri Petratos called Kamaljit in action.

Ten minutes into the second-half and Hugo Boumous broke the deadlock for ATK Mohun Bagan. Kamaljit Singh failed to save an afar on shot target as it rebounds off his gloves. In the 64th minute, Manvir Singh doubled the lead for ATK Mohun Bagan. The Indian forward found a gap in the left flank to tee up his shot and score the goal. Kamaljit Singh got beaten to a deflection again to conceive the second of the game.

The two goals brought some changes for both sides. Ashique Kuruniyan, Lenny Rodrigues came in for, Deepak Tangri, Liston Colaco in ATK Mohun Bagan camp. While East Bengal FC brought in Aniket Jadhav, Eliandro, Souvik Chakraborty for Ivan Gonzalez, Semboi Haokip, VP Suhair.

Mariners kept the control with time running. East Bengal FC find it hard to shot as ATK Mohun Bagan defense stood still with some fantastic skills from Subhasis Bose.
